After portraying many critically acclaimed roles in Malayalam, Swetha Menon is going to achieve new heights, as the Tamil dubbed version of ‘Kayam’, titled as ‘Thaaram’ would soon be released in Tamil.
Kayam scripted by Viju Ramachandran tells the story of Thamara, a lonely lady living in a village, portrayed by Swetha and Choonda, a fisherman, done by Manoj K Jayan. Bala and Aparna play other significant roles in this movie directed by Anil K Nair.
Swetha’s outstanding performance in Kayam has brought fame as well as controversies. On May 2nd the Ernakulam central Police arrested K C Abraham, Managing Director of Kunnath Pharmaceuticals for misusing the seductive photos Shweta for promoting their Ayurvedic aphrodisiac Musli Power Extra. Later he freed on bail. Shweta filed the complaint after certain billboards, hoardings and print ads promoting the aphrodisiac surfaced in the state showing her steaming stills from the movie. As per Shweta, the producer of the movie Anitha Subhash and the pharmaceutical company had used the images without her consent. She had also filed a complaint with the Kerala State Women's Commission. When arrested, Abraham informed police that he had used the pictures as part of the contract with the producer.
Kayam was not a good box office grosser, but the team expects more from the Tamil industry. Meanwhile, Swetha Menon is much excited about her upcoming Malayalam movie Rathinirvedam, remake of the yesteryear classic from Bharathan-Padmarajan team.
